behind the MASK II

You guessed it..behind the MASK II is already in the making! Already it's gown to 70 pages. behind the MASK II, Headlines will be the first volume for all subsequent publications. Each publication (volume) will feature the events over a year (or 2) at a time. A lot can happen in a year!

So keep this site bookmarked and follow along..links to NEW publications will be posted here.

COUPON CODE discovered!! Since Blurb did not send the usual code following the publishing of the book I went searching. I found several codes but some were reported to NOT be working. I was publishing two new books and decided to try a few anyway...well I found one that worked! The code is

You'll save up to $10 on the shipping. Catch is if you now order in groups and it is priced by weight you'll only save $10 (set of 3 = ~35.00 S&H - 10.00 = 25 or 8.00 each). Order alone then the S&H is 14.47..it will only be 4.47. You can only use the code ONCE per person/address...or this is what I understand.

If ordering be sure to check the final amount before following through. If I find any more codes..I'll post them here.

Book Report

The book arrived today..NO BORDER FEES!!

As for the results..I think overall it turned out well. Calibration may have been off a bit making some photos a bit darker than they appeared on my screen..and premium quality paper was not an option given the book was greater than 160 pages. But I think it serves the purpose.

I may be a bit more critical than some..so you'll all have to decide for yourselves. I have decided to retouch a few of the photos and reload the book..one last time! It will be ready for ordering by tomorrow.

Back on Track!

So the book issues have been addressed and my initial copy is on route to me.

The book has been reloaded BUT I'm waiting to re-post the link until I can review the book. So with any luck that will be next week.

A roll out to let people know about the book will take place during Nurses Week. So please be patient and keep checking back.

Given the apparent issue with the use of a hospital identifier, I have swept the book FREE of any written reference to it.

I have once again loaded the book. By this evening it should be available once again to view or purchase.

1. I'm just confirming with the Communications and Public Affairs department, that SJHC has no issues with me making such a book. So far looks good but need final confirmation.

2. After I upload a book I usually get a discount coupon code..and it might save you a few dollars.

3. Make sure you preview the Directory in the book and are happy with who is in it..like you. Are you in it or do you care?

The book is now uploaded and the first copy has been ordered!

When can I get one?

The book is in the final stages of review. I want to make every effort to ensure that names are spelled correctly..and it's as near to perfect as it can be!

I plan to complete it and upload it this weekend. It's a large book and therefore might require 6 or more hours to upload. If all goes well, I will order the first copy and shortly after that it will appear in the Blurb Bookstore.

I'll then post the link to the book's page and anyone interested can then order their own!

Cost of the Book

The cost of the book depends on whether you want a soft or hard cover. I've made a chart based on cover options (3) and economy shipping to either Canada or the US (if you know someone in the US you can have it shipped to). I do not know for certain whether shipping it to Canada might cost more (duty). So far none that have made a book and had it mailed to them in Canada have had to pay. But it might be value or weigh based? Prices are in US currency as it is a US company.

Book Details

behind the MASK is a collection of photographs I've taken over the years at SJHC. It includes candid photographs, some artwork and work-related events.

The book is 280 pages and contains hundreds of photographs. It is a tribute to the life we have shared behind the MASK...in the Operating Room at SJHC.

Blurb provides the free software to build your book on your computer (Mac or PC). Once your book is completed it is uploaded, purchased, and shipped directly to you. Then you can choose to share your book with others and they too can buy it.
